After an experience as author and director for theatre, Tv and cinema, Max Papeschi starts with digital-art in 2008. The media hype raised by a giant work on the facade of a building in the center of Poznan in Poland projects him on the international scene, making him in a very short time one of the best known Italian artists abroad. In just 10 years of activity, he has made more than 60 solo exhibitions and he has participated in about one hundred collective exhibitions around the world. In 2014 he published his biography: “How to sell Swastikas and Live Happy” by Sperling & Kupfer (Mondadori Group). In April 2016, the Welcome to North Korea cultural-humanitarian project was inaugurated in Milan, whose world tour is still active. This is a real artistic precedent created in collaboration with Amnesty International, which combines digital art, performances and installations in a multimedia operation which reveals the horrors perpetuated by the dictator Kim Jong Un, through a fictitious and parodic regime propaganda. In 2016 he also made the cover and video clip / art for the song IT'S ALL DEVO by the American singer-songwriter Gerald Casale (DEVO). In 2017 Papeschi collaborated on Peter Gomez's monthly FQ MILLENIUM, creating the cover of the second issue of the magazine and releasing a long interview for it. In September of the same year his work Wall Street was included in the international exhibition OPEN 20 and exhibited at the Molino Stucky in Venice. In October the artist also took part in the Karachi Biennial with the art video / video clip It's All DEVO. In 2018 Papeschi inaugurated Palermo Italian Capital of Culture with the exhibition The Best is Yet to Come at Palazzo Steri. In October his new book Max vs Max was published by Giunti, in collaboration with Massimiliano Parente and with an introductory text by the art critic Gianluca Marziani. The editorial project was followed by the exhibition of the same name, at the Contemporary Cluster (Palazzo Cavallerini Lazzaroni) in Rome, curated by Marziani himself. In January 2019 Papeschi inaugurated the Pyongyang Rhapsody exhibition, in collaboration with the artist Max Ferrigno, at the ZAC - Cantieri Culturali at the Zisa in Palermo. In May of the same year, he opened the Novecento / 900 exhibition at the Historical Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina. In July 2020 Papeschi inaugurated the new exhibition Hic Sunt Leones at the WEGIL, in Rome, in collaboration with Maimeri Foundation and Lazio Region, curated by Gianluca Marziani. For the occasion Papeschi has designed a site-specific installation.

Max Papeschi approda nel mondo dell’arte contemporanea alla fine del 2008, dopo un’esperienza da autore e regista in ambito teatrale, televisivo e cinematografico. Il clamore mediatico sollevato da una sua opera gigante affissa sulla facciata di un palazzo nel centro di Poznan in Polonia lo proietta sulla scena internazionale, rendendolo in pochissimo tempo uno degli artisti italiani più conosciuti all’estero. In soli 10 anni di attività ha realizzato più di 60 mostre personali e partecipato a un centinaio di mostre collettive in giro per tutto il mondo. Nel 2014 è uscita in Italia la sua autobiografia Vendere Svastiche e Vivere Felici edita da Sperling & Kupfer (Gruppo Mondadori). Ad aprile 2016 ha inaugurato a Milano il progetto culturale-umanitario Welcome to North Korea, il cui tour mondiale è tuttora attivo. È questo un vero e proprio precedente artistico realizzato in collaborazione con Amnesty International, che unisce arte digitale, performance e installazioni in un’operazione multimediale che, attraverso una fittizia e parodistica propaganda di regime, svela gli orrori perpetuati dal dittatore Kim Jong Un. Nel 2016 ha realizzato anche la copertina e il video clip/d’arte per la canzone IT’S ALL DEVO del cantautore statunitense Gerald Casale (DEVO). Nel 2017 Papeschi ha collaborato al mensile FQ MILLENIUM di Peter Gomez, creando la copertina del secondo numero della rivista e rilasciando per la stessa una lunga intervista. A settembre dello stesso anno la sua opera Wall Street è stata inserita nell'esposizione internazionale OPEN 20 ed esposta presso il Molino Stucky di Venezia. In ottobre l'artista ha preso parte anche alla Biennale di Karachi con il video d'arte/videoclip It's All DEVO. Nel 2018 Papeschi ha inaugurato Palermo Capitale Italiana della Cultura con la mostra The Best is Yet to Come presso Palazzo Steri. In ottobre è uscito il suo nuovo libro Max vs Max, edito da Giunti, in collaborazione Massimiliano Parente e con testo introduttivo del critico Gianluca Marziani. Al progetto editoriale ha fatto seguito l’omonima mostra, presso il Contemporary Cluster (Palazzo Cavallerini Lazzaroni) di Roma, curata dallo stesso Marziani. A gennaio 2019 Papeschi ha inaugurato la mostra Pyongyang Rhapsody, in collaborazione con l’artista Max Ferrigno, presso lo ZAC - Cantieri Culturali alla Zisa di Palermo.
